Baby Abuelita Brings More Family into the Home
Company Expands Family of Products for the Growing Market
MIAMI, FL, February 2009 – In 2005, a couple of moms decided there was a void in the toy aisle and in family homes. Deciding to do something about it, they began a venture to create Baby Abuelita, which makes products that preserve Latin American heritage and culture that many have trouble recalling, but that the abuelitos fondly reinforce. They started by creating singing dolls that looked and sounded like their own grandparents, Rosa and Pancho.
In the four years since Baby Abuelita Productions began their adventure, Rosa and Pancho's family has grown to include Baby Andrea, Baby Tita, and Baby Mimi plush dolls, two musical books and a DVD that are sold at Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us, Kmart, and online at www.babyabuelita.com.
Baby Abuelita is continuing to develop its product line and with the introduction of Baby Javier, the family's first boy doll, the family just continues to grow. Elberto El Elefante will also delight with adorable songs and he is just as cute as he looks in Baby Abuelita's Family Fiesta DVD.
Bringing even more playful songs and adventures to homes, Baby Abuelita will launch its second animated DVD in 2009, as well. As in Family Fiesta, three episodes will introduce practical lessons and Spanish vocabulary for both Spanish-speaking families and those wanting to give their children a head start in learning the language.
"Baby Abuelita's products continue to bring family and Hispanic traditions, culture and useful lessons into homes. Our goal is to help families maintain their treasured traditions and cultures as well as teach and reinforce healthy and practical lessons, including English and Spanish vocabulary," said Carol Fenster, co-founder of Baby Abuelita Productions. "I think one of the greatest things we bring to the family is the mom and educator's point of view."
Beyond the apparent retail success of Baby Abuelita, the small minority business enterprise has won a string of industry awards, including iParenting's 2008 Outstanding (Media) Product for the Family Fiesta DVD, 2008 Best Product Award for Abuelita Rosa and Abuelito Pancho, and the "Sing Along with Abuelita Rosa" book. Creative Child magazine selected Abuelita Rosa and Abuelito Pancho as Toy of the Year within the Musical Dolls for Kids category. Earlier this year, "Sing Along with Abuelita Rosa" was bestowed the Mom's Choice Award® which is known for establishing the benchmark of excellence in family-friendly media, products and services. Baby Abuelita also won the 2007 National Parenting Publications Award (NAPPA). For 18 years, NAPPA's high standards in evaluating children's toys, music, books, video games and DVDs have made it one of the most prestigious awards in children's learning and entertainment.
